On realizing the historical, geographical, political importance, the British Raj established this small Green Town surrounded by hillocks as a municipality in 1888. The Hill viz, Shikra, Bansha Kopila have gheroed this Town and made this a Tourist spot. The Silphore Hill declares its existence on the heart of this municipal Town as if God – gifted beauty – spot with another romantic feeling. The places of interest of the areas are Narahara, Murguma, Dimu Dam which has beautiful scenario. Jhalda is adjacent to Jherkhand, the river Subarnarekha flows very near to this small city. According to last Census, the population was 19544. Presently it has a population of 25,000. One College and four high Schools are there with good reputation.

This city is developing rapidly and welcomes everybody to come and visit the heavenly beauty of the area, including the nearest spot of tourist interest “AJODHYA HILLS”.
